I have come to regard my defining moment as an artist is when I dance, not just movements across the floor, across the page, across the stage. or around the world but rather when I effortlessly dance in my head. leaps and bounds, bent knees and a straight back, feet firmly planted and my head held high, the posture of every artist who tries and fails is bruised and blistered. Yet dances with the stars it becomes a true reality.
The reality of contemplation, stagnation and motion. Each
moment; motivating the creative process for me is backed by a love of history,
from an early age oral traditions were kept alive and ingrained in my psyche,
the fascination of uncovering the truth, as if everything told to me was a lie,
rather just perspective, caused me to further unearth and uncover all that I could, this in turn led me to using communication as a means
to reflect the truth and by extension fostering relationship with others. I fell
in love with the sharing of ideas and a person’s story. My love of music, dance
the spoken and written word only furthered my interest in documenting the lives
of other people narrowing that gap we call mankind, down to the bare bone facts
of our human experience, in which each one of us has lived differently.
This is best
expressed in the medium of Media, it’s the transitive and connective tissue that
creates a sum of parts, creating wholeness and healing in its various modes. I
have come to realize that my aesthetic for creating is centered on Building
people up, a foundation of truth, and a makeup of layers that is both colorful and honest, kind of like me. I’m fond of words such as Encouragement, and Inspiration and I have realized that in my purpose therein
lies a tapestry of thought interwoven in each and every one of us,a desire to connect, a desire to
dance. I'm that artist, Shall We Dance !
“We
are never more truly human than when we Dance”
Jose Limon
